We have announced 27 Marine Conservation Zones to safeguard a wide range of precious sea life.

We are planning two further phases over the next three years, and will announce more detailed plans next year.
MCZs are only one piece of the jigsaw though, and over 500 marine protected areas already exist around the UK.
